07:58 AM ET 10.14 | The Red Sox and the Rangers may have a fit in a rumored trade of Jacoby Ellsbury for Derek Holland. Ellsbury's acquisition would offset the departure of Josh Hamilton, which seems more and more likely.

Still would need to sign him.

Both Team Could Use a Good Manager!!!!

If the Rangers think they'll be gettin Hamilton production/effect outta Elsbury, they are truly kidding themselves. Just pay Josh and be done with it, you're garranteed 3-4 more yrs with Josh. Elsbury best is behind him and all you're really gettin is a good player and a name!

IMO, this would be a great deal for Boston. They need pitching badly and really need to unload Ellsbury while he still has some value. Jackie Bradley Jr. should be ready to take over the CF spot by 2014, maybe even the middle of next year. In the mean time sign Tory Hunter to a nice 1 year deal. He seems to be the type of clubhouse guy this team needs.

makes some sense but i don't see it happening. boston needs arms but his tweet at the end of the season would have been a huge and enduring distraction had it happened in boston. and there will be media types who will surely revive the story and keep it going just to stir the pot.

Not sure that Holland is the guy to get for Ellsbury. I think Arizona has some good young arms. Maybe a pitcher and Justin Upton for Ellsbury and a prospect.

Sox have payroll flexibility now, and BJ Upton is a free agent. I can see that being a fit. As someone else said, I like the idea of Torii Hunter too.

The Sox are not that far away from having a good team again. We gotta have starting pitching, both quality and depth, to do it.

I can't believe there's not a thread about Jeter breaking his ankle.

The play itself was nothing special. It would make sense if it was already weakened.
