10:00 AM ET 10.14 | Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria is gaining a reputation as the reincarnation of George "The Boss" Steinbrenner -- a meddling, micro-managing multi-millionaire who imposes his impulsive will on those who run the team even though he has never played, managed, scouted or coached professional baseball. After the team's dysfunctional debut season in Marlins Park, part of the blame is being placed on Loria, whose decisions and the manner in which he made them has strained the nerves of his front office executives.

"... Loria, whose decisions and the manner in which he made them has strained the nerves of his front office executives."
Oh my God, no wonder they lost. The execs had strained nerves! How can any team be expected to win if the executives have the vapors!
The Miami Herald reaches a new low in excuse making.
I don't like Loria either, but he does have a couple of WS to his credit. Maybe the Herald needs better copy writers.

Thanks for the correction. Sometimes I let my enthusiasm for the story interfere with the facts. Maybe I should apply for a positiion as a reporter for the Miami Herald!

Loria to MLB is like Jones to the NFL. AS long as both men think they know more than the people they have hired to run their teams both franchises will suffer.

The difference between George Steinbrenner and Loria is Steinbrenner knew what he was doing and surrounded himself with good people.

wiseup: Loria should hire a good GM that knows baseball, Give him a reasonable budget, let him hire the manager. Then Loria should park his fat butt in his fat butt chair. and stay in his office . let the GM hire the manager, and the manager hire his coaching staff. The GM and manger work on filling in holes in the lineup and pitching staff. At year end, Loria can evaluate progress and make decisions about the next season.
