08:07 AM ET 10.15 | After Dirk Nowitzki, the Mavs relied on Jason Terry's scoring over the better part of a decade in Dallas, an option that no longer exists. With Terry in Boston slinging shots up for the Celtics, things have changed for the Mavericks. Coach Rick Carlisle said one of the things he's hoping to see in the preseason home opener [Monday] against Houston is some diversity on the offensive end. "We've got to have a team of go-to guys," he said when asked if he could visualize a clear No. 2 option on offense. "We got to have 15 guys who are locked and loaded and ready to step into their shots. I feel the game is changing to where it's more of a strength-in-numbers league. And we got to have a lot of guys ready to contribute."

Kaman could be big. Certainly an upgrade on offense over Chandler, Haywood and Dampier. Collison did well for the Pacers and that should continue. Brand will add some punch as well.

Yeah, agree that Dirk has never had a center like Kaman. Collison did a fine job for the Pacers when Hill went down with an injury. Hopefully, Dirk's knee is only temporary like last year.

That's good news. It's always nice for players to have a good pre-season. Watching the Spurs and they still have one roster spot and need a big. It's a close competition, and will be interesting to see who they choose and how they use that player during the regular season.
