08:12 AM ET 10.15 | Before the Yankees slipped to 0-2 against the Tigers on Sunday evening, team president Randy Levine, in addition to holding out hope for a turnaround that may not come, also asked that fans not focus on Alex Rodriguez's contract. Levine seemed almost resigned to just having to deal with that contract and its value while Rodriguez is a Yankee. He wasn't surprised by Rodriguez's benching. "For all our fan base: Let's root for Alex, the contract is what it is." ... Levine did not commit to Rodriguez for the duration of the deal, although he didn't specifically give a definitive answer as to if he thinks the Yankees will finish the deal in pinstripes or eventually will get traded.

He does realize that its a guaranteed contract, right?

I can't see anyone trading for that monstrosity.

Lets see if he kicks it up a notch now that he's not gonna be playing in Jeter's shadow......

QUOTE(#6):

Someone just needs to tell ALL of them not to swing for the 5 run home run every at bat. Swish, granderson, cano ....they all look like they are trying to win a prize at a carnival for the hardest swing......and none of them are hitting that damn bell

where's the manager??? where's the hitting coach??? I see it happening...you see it happening...we all see it happening ...why don't they.......

Traded? To who? Never mind the baggage and the marked decline in hitting a baseball, he's a 5/10 player as it is.

QUOTE(#7):

I do wonder if they'll end up eating that much of it just to get rid of him because the fan base hates him so much.

the fan base will turn on any of them in a second....Swisher was crying in the paper today about it...."it's not fair how we are treated here after busting our butts all year ..maybe we'll be better off on the road"...yada yada yada.......

Maybe going from Yankee stadium to a spacious park like Comerica will force them to ajust.

CC has shown in the past he can swing the bat. Although I wouldn't want to see him try and run around the bases.

I still think the Yankees should extend him again.

What are the chances they try to negotiate a lucrative retirement package with ARod, in effect buy him out of his present contract?
