Revis' surgery coming this week

11:43 AM ET 10.15 | Darrelle Revis tore his ACL earlier in the year but the Jets waited to put him on IR until last weekend. The hope was that Revis could return if the Jets made a playoff run but even then it was unlikely he would be able to go. The Jets cornerback is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday which marks the end of any comeback hopes.

Sometimes they have to wait a couple of weeks for the swelling and fluid to drain off enough to get a really good look at things when they scope it.

When my wife did her ACL skiing, they put her on an exercise program to strengthen the muscles around the knee before the operation. It makes for a better recovery. Of course, you'd expect a pro football player to already be at that peak-strength level.
