It seems the only way that he will earn that respect is to take the Niner's to the SB.

It is tough to show a ton of respect, when you can't bet the farm on him.

The whole team was off. Not putting it on any one player. The coaches simply didn't have the team ready for this game. Shake it off and come back strong, it's prime time on Thursday.

Do you think that the Giants defense might have had something to do with the way Smith Played. Is this not similar to what their defense did to Mark Sanchez?

Now that's the Alex Smith of old I knew. You guys kill Vick for his bad QB play when the guy has been to several playoff appearances and WON but this guy gets sympathy? Why? He is a former number one draft pick who hasn't nearly lived up to the selection nor the hype that comes along with it. And deserves to be treated as such. He has made his way from complete and utter bust to game manager. Hooray!

There is truth in what you say. But until yesterday, really, Rodgers was trash, too. I agree that Smith is no Rodgers - which is ironic because of how both got taken the same year in the draft, Smith at #1 and Rodgers way down the list, and how both are now - but he showed some things last year beyond game management. 49ers could still use an upgrade at Qb and the answer isn't Kaepernick.

Agreed, on everything except Rodgers being trash, at no point do I think that could have been debated. The standard I think is set so high for him that anything other than unbelievable stats and accomplishment is considered failure. If Smith had Rodgers numbers the first five games of this season in any of his previous seasons I think he would take that without hesitation in comparison to his production.

SB's don't always translate to respect.

49ers got run out of their own house yesterday....It looked like they gave up...which is something that never happened last year.....Harbaugh needs to stop telling everyone how good the Niners are and start backing it up...
