03:56 PM ET 10.15 | Was another huge loss to Oklahoma enough for national championship winner Mack Brown's job to be placed in jeopardy? From the sounds of Texas fans, very much so.

There's a reason I wrote about Brown in the past tense despite the fact that he's our current head coach. It's over. He has lost us. The Rationals. He can't be our head coach anymore. There's no percentage in it. We've always understood his deficiencies. This is the place where they were endlessly dissected and documented even when we were winning (but the infrastructure was rotting). We saw reasonable evidence in the past that the right staff and overwhelming talent could make him a winner. And we were willing to give it a go with a thorough house cleaning and the idea that 2010 was a substantial wake up slap. Perhaps those things were once true and those bets were good ones given the downside of the unknowable. The calculus has shifted.

Opportunity to show they have a new pic of Mack. Y'all lighten up on those fine, upstanding young mods.

Im certainly not a utx fan or mack brown for that matter, but he,s on to somthing in texas and just a year or two at the most from it coming to a reality and now because of a loss and evidently a personal one to the texans who are screaming for blood they want his head what a bunch of morons, he has a young team thats developing very nice and very close to being a true contender, that just got blown out by a veteran squad in oklahoma and west virginia has one of the best qb,s in the game, things are as they should be at this point with a little seasoning they are going to fine and next year will be when they should be judged, he,s recruited great give him a chance to grow them up.......
GO GATORS...........

They gave Mack Brown a lifetime contract for winning exactly one conference championship in his career. This is the worst legendary coach I've ever seen.

College Presidents who want to keep their jobs in a football factory school had better listen to upset alumni, especially if they are big donors.
Mack Brown is gone; it's just a matter of finishing the season.

If you're considering dumping your coach, you should FIRST see who's out there to fill the void. Are there ANY available candidates worth a gig like Texas? Seriously. If Texas dumps Mack, who the HELL will they replace him with?

Bank this: If Texas dumps Mack, they will go through AT LEAST 2 more HC's before they find anyone to duplicate what he's accomplished at UT.

God lord Barking Carnival is a Longhorn homer message board roughly 2 tiers below Burnt Orange Nation and just a tad above Shaggy Bevo.

Not a reputable source to be quoting FN.

I hear the Auburn coach may be moving on, can always cash in there....

Could any fan site be called a "reputable" source though?

I all seriousness though, Texas should be able to poach any BE, ACC (barring FSU), or non-BCS coach it wants. If it were me I would steal the one from Clemson.

Or maybe TAMU, just for fun.
