08:06 AM ET 10.16 | Rockets guard Jeremy Lin was given the night off Monday against the Mavericks -- an absence planned by coach Kevin McHale and not as a result of the guard's progress. [McHale spoke] with Lin after Sunday's game and again Monday morning about not letting his preseason struggles hurt his confidence. "We had planned on this already," McHale said. "This was his day off in his knee rehab, 28 days of October plan that we had to get him where we need to have him by the 31st. He's finding his way, as always happens when you haven't played in a long time," McHale said of Lin, who had not played since March prior to training camp. "He had surgery and took a long time off. He's just getting his confidence back, trying to get his mojo going which is very common."

Agree with McHale. Right now, it's just conditioning. Lin did not do great in the last pre-season game, but wasn't a disaster. This is what pre-season is for.
