08:09 AM ET 10.16 | For the first time since tweaking his groin last week, Anthony Davis went through full-contact work during Monday's practice. Davis sat out this past Friday's game against the Houston Rockets as a precaution. He practiced Sunday but was held out of contact work. Davis, the No. 1 overall pick in the June NBA draft, is the Hornets' leading scorer (14.0) and rebounder (8.7). "He looked pretty good today, but we certainly want to be careful," Hornets Coach Monty Williams said. Davis is likely to play Thursday against the Atlanta Hawks, along with backup power forward Jason Smith. ... Smith participated in Monday's contact work for the first time since falling on his back during the Hornets' preseason opener against the Orlando Magic.

He has a long career ahead of him. Why risk further injury in pre-season games. Especially since he played and practice with the Olympic Team

He is the number one pick. Everything injury and dump he takes is going to be magnified by 1000. He is going to be fine and will be rookie of the year.

He's no Mourning that's for sure.
Yes he's athletic and yes he dominated the boards(in college).
This is the big time now and just like with the pacers unless Hibbert becomes a beast, just as unless Davis bulks up and becomes a consistent 18 & 15 guy neither team will be taken seriously....

Not really, they just need to learn to take better care of their bodies and not take their athletic talent for granted... Also remember it's only preseason, these games mean squat in the bigger picture of things..

Acyually that's why you see so many guys appear to be injury prone. They're afraid to take time to heal. So they're constantly "opening old wounds." The Hornets have too much invested in this guy to risk further injury in freakin' pre-season.

Also alot of guys would rather go to a bar and drink their face off between stopovers then stretch and get a goodnights sleep... Kobe and Lebron are notorious for doing what it takes to keep their bodies together through things like stretching, Yoga and rest..... While the J.R. Smiths, Stephen Jackson's, Chris Bosh's and others frequent the Strip clubs and bars on the regular which. That scene catches up to you over the long haul which alot of athletes take for granted..

I agree with you totally but on the MJ tip, he wasn't boozing himself silly like alot of guys now... (Iverson was a pure alcoholic) MJ and teammates would also hold poker nights in their hotel room and send hookers to the opposing teams rooms the night before games...
