08:14 AM ET 10.16 | Though he failed to convert a charity shot at halftime of Monday night's Chargers game, Phil Mickelson remains on target for an ownership stake in the Padres. As he walked in a hallway of Qualcomm Stadium after his shot, Mickelson said of his possible relationship with his hometown baseball team, "We'll hopefully have something here shortly to announce." All indications are that Mickelson is in the final stages of negotiations to come on board with the new ownership. "There are a lot of little variables," Mickelson said on Monday night. "It's the timing of everything as it relates to my career, how that will work over time. ... I'm really excited about working with (new owner) Peter Seidler and the O'Malley family."

Johnson is with the Dodgers, Phil is trying to get with the Padres, Peyton's wife is with the Grizzlies, and I am guessing this is just another tax write off for all of these super stars.

Golfer buys baseball team? The play in baseball might be a little too fast for him at first, but maybe he will adjust.
