Lidstrom honor caught in labor dispute

08:24 AM ET 10.16 | Once the lockout ends, Nicklas Lidstrom's No. 5 will be retired by the Detroit Red Wings, but that ceremony, obviously, has been placed on hold. Lidstrom has countless accolades, including seven Norris Trophies, tied for second with Doug Harvey, behind only Bobby Orr. These achievements will, without a doubt, land him in the Hockey Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. Regrettably, this NHL legend is being told to wait for his turn to be honoured by fans because of the current labour dispute. But when it's all said and done, the Wings will host a night in tribute. At that time, as [Mike Babcock] said, "Lidstrom will take his proper place in our rafters."

We're not so worried about the Swede but the beating the twine is going to take if he plays. But what am I worried about? He was coached by by the "best coach on the planet."

I'm sure you're incorrect Danny. Why just a few short months ago your boy Burkie gave Francois the vote of confidence.

And his. With his attitude I don't think he worries about that as much as his wanting to see his old friends back to playing.

Yes.

If it were only possible to have someone with the qualities of Nick running either the NHL or the NHLPA, we wouldn't have these problems every 6 or 7 years.
