Brown as committed as ever

08:22 AM ET 10.16 | As far as he's concerned, Mack Brown's not going anywhere. At least, not by his choice. Or apparently that of his higher-ups. Texas' head coach said as much Monday when he said he plans on sticking around and turning around a program that has slipped badly in the last three years. Eight of the losses in his 17-14 record since the BCS title game have been by double-digits, five by 22 or more points. At least one high-level university source told me Brown's job is not in jeopardy. Brown was more committed than confused, more determined than downtrodden. "I'm way too competitive and have way too much pride to leave something bad," Brown said. "I'm going to get this fixed."

He may be more committed, but he's still confused. He's going to become another JoePa or Bowden.
It takes a very strong man to know when it's his time to move on. You lost Muschamp because you didn't want to leave a couple years ago. Like George Costanza says, "Leave on a high note...".

I'm officially sick and tired of Mack threads. 3 days in a row is over my limit.

UTx can afford payments for his commitment to the state hospital for the mentally insane. I believe the hospital resides in Austin anyway...and there he'll be able to dine and play board games with most of the Texas Legislators.

After they pretty much destroyed the Big 12 with their longhorn network garbage, I cant help but laugh. How many points did Oklahoma hang on them again?

Here's a question for all your FN genius'. How long can UTx churn $$$$$$$$$ while still losing? How long's it been since they won a Big 12 championship in one of the major sports?
Coffers are flowing over but the losses keep piling up.

I don't know about all this "old guy" stuff: there are plenty of young coaches who lose it over time. RichRod, for example, couldn't do s hite at Michigan with ample resources and the parade of coaches at ND has only just ended [probably] with Kelly.) Mack has just lost it and it's time to go.

Not being able to tackle doesn't seem like a youth problem. I saw guys in the right places that just didn't make tackles Saturday.

Old Texas HS football coach's team was picked to win the district after having gone 0-10 the two previous seasons. He asked how the other coaches how they could vote that way. The other coaches said, "You've got 21 of 22 starters back that all have two years of experience...that's why." His reply was, "When you've gone 0-20 with those guys, you want some new ones...you don't want them back!"
