08:13 AM ET 10.17 | Win, and these two may be in. Pitcher Jake Westbrook and first baseman Lance Berkman both participated in a simulated game Tuesday at Busch Stadium, and both are encouraged they might be available eight days from now for the start of the World Series. Westbrook, out since he suffered an oblique injury on Sept. 8, threw a 50-pitch simulated game as several members of the Cardinals' coaching staff and front office watched on. "I felt great," Westbrook said. "I'm over the oblique stuff, and now it's just kind of a mater of getting my arm back in shape." ... Berkman's situation is less clear, but he also feels encouraged about the possibility of returning should the Cardinals advance into next week's World Series.

I think he'll be a power bat off the bench or DH should they get to the Series. No way they are taking Craig or Beltran out of the lineup.

Number one you got to get there first, number two Westbrook needs to concentrate on free agency coming up, and number three Lance needs to concentrate on hi golf game.

Westbrook isn't a free agent, he's signed for 2013 with an option for 2014.

Number 1 is all you needed, this series has a long way to go yet. Puma is done and Westbrook couldn't go more than 5 even if he did come back. He would be a decent safety net should a starter struggle early but who do you take off the roster for these two highly questionable players at this point?

good piont, there is no need to modify or alterate any good lineup. unless there is an injury or a illness in any player, other than that the cards manager shouldn't mess with his current lineup!!!!!!

Why in the world would you want Miller taken off the roster?

He's just the one they have been using the least. I'd prefer they take Salas off for Westbrook if Jake were healthy.

Gotcha! Thanks! Good thing it's Matheny's call! LOL
I'd love to see Shelby get a start but it won't happen.

Yeah, that won't happen. Miller and Rosenthal impress the heck out of me. I have more confidence in them than I do in Salas or Scrabble......
