Red Sox tipping their hand

08:15 AM ET 10.17 | Boston appears to be doing everything in its power to turn the page on 2012. [The] Red Sox do not plan to interview any members of the 2012 coaching staff for their managerial vacancy. That would appear to rule out Tim Bogar. ... Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach interviewed on Friday and Yankees bench coach Tony Pena interviewed on Monday. Padres special assistant to the GM Brad Ausmus is scheduled to interview on Wednesday, with former Red Sox bench coach (and current Orioles third base coach) DeMarlo Hale on tap to interview on Thursday. The Sox have not ruled out adding additional candidates to that group (including candidates whom they interviewed last year), but if they do so, it appears they will come from outside the organization.

Yes, accurate excerpt but a poor headline. Some radio station said that Bogar wasn't going to get an interview. That was the whole story. The rest was just a rehash of the list of candidates who are getting interviews.

Makes sense that they would go outside the organization after the last couple of years. Seems from an outsider's perspective that they would want to have a fresh start.

Really, I thought the Yankees were with their imminent sweep by the Tigers, no?

Imminent sweep, but never say never. Takes four wins to advance.

as long the red sox NEW MANAGER WAS A CATCHER in his career as a player, things shouldn't be so difficult to bring up a new chemistry to the franchise in boston!!!

seems like they have this backwards, didn't they go outside of the organization last year only to see that fail. They put this on themselfs, come on, they really expected little bobby valentine to drive this thing? BV is an idiot, period.

Right. we remember when the Yankees were 3-0 on the Red Sox in the ALCS, and the Sox were even down to their last out. How'd that turn out?

They're not interviewing anyone from inside the Red Sox organizations, thus the new manager "will come from outside the organization". That's how I read the "tipping their hand" part of this post.
