01:15 PM ET 10.17 | When Ray Lewis tore his triceps, it was believed he would be done for the season, but the Ravens are leaving the door open, however small it may be, for a possible return for their Pro Bowl linebacker. The team placed Lewis on injured reserve, but designated him for return, a new tweak to the IR rules. Though it's unlikely because he's having surgery, it's possible Lewis could be back later in the year.

I think so too. This is not a guy who wants to finish his career on IR.

Say what? A fully torn triceps requires surgery and three-six months' recovery time from the time of the surgery. Either Harbaugh was wrong about the extent of the injury or Lewis can't possibly return before the end of the season.

Maybe this move was made to shore up the morale of the Ravens?

About a month ago there was a potential Big Foot sighting in Washington state. I think there may have been a Ravens defense sighting at that time as well. Just go on Dancing with the Stars and be done with it Ray.

He's not. He's done.Call it a career, Ray.

Gonna take more than this to keep Ray Ray from suiting up again

Ray should use the time off to bulk up so he can stop the run again when he comes back.

Ray Lewis is likely done for the year.I would not count out a comeback next season. With Terrell Suggs and Ray Lewis returning for a finale, there defense will likely be near the top once again.

Lewis is accustomed to will, determination, and hard work being able to overcome the odds. I don't think it is going to work this time.

What they got to do is cuff and shakel him, and put him in a sound proof room, if they don't do that, he will probably play this year and re injure himself!!

October 17, 2012  07:28 PM ET

I think he's done permanently.

he's just ornery enough to come back this year...
