Bad blood boiling between Bears and Lions

08:04 AM ET 10.18 | Black and blue collide yet again. Lions versus Bears. Detroit versus Chicago. The teams, the players and the cities just don't like each other. So it was only fitting that the Lions' last meeting with the Bears resulted in a fourth-quarter brawl and $62,500 in fines. ... Bears linebacker Lance Briggs told ESPN radio in Chicago that bad blood still courses through players' veins. "I think we don't like each other very much," he said. "We're real familiar with each other, but the last couple of times we played them there have been plenty of scuffles and fights and stuff." Lions players said there's animosity among all opponents. But receiver Nate Burleson said it's especially keen with Detroit against Chicago.

Reporters' hype. Bears and Lions hate each other, as all NFL North teams hate each other, ut the rivalry between Bears and Lions or Bears and Vikings is nothing compared to GB rivalry. Then again that's hype, too: Chicago now is full of GB fans. Nothing stinks better than a winner, eh?

Some rivalries are long-lasting and intense. I'm thinking Buckeyes/Wolverines here. Some are intense and may become long-lasting. I'm thinking Red Sox/Yankees. But for two cities across all sports, its gotta be Chicago/Detroit (Tigers/White Sox, Red Wings/Blackhawks, Pistons/Bulls and (of course ) Lions/Bears. I wonder what it would be like if the two cities each developed a professional lacrosse team?

Well back in the days when 50 prowled the bar scene looking for women with morally permissive attitudes they didn't have divisions but yes they have been rivals since the Lions moved from Portsmouth in 1934
