08:12 AM ET 10.18 | This time around, the Red Sox have compiled a very good list of managerial candidates, and the interviews have continued throughout the week. [At] the top of that list should be Brad Ausmus. Ausmus, a Cheshire, Conn., native and Dartmouth graduate, interviews with the Red Sox Wednesday. He probably will be the smartest man in the room, and he should be impressive when grilled by the Sox hiring team. Ausmus is a walking testimonial. Everyone who ever has come in contact with him will tell you he was born to manage. Paul Ricciarini, a longtime scout with the Houston organization, said he thought Ausmus "was going to be a big league manager 18 years ago." That's when he was 25 years old. ... [Said Brian Sabean:] "He's a rising star in this profession."

Makes perfect sense.

This story is from the Globe. That tends to make the interns even more clueless.

Give Ausmus a try, he could turn out like the Cards 22 has, and he also is another catcher with ties to a lot of veteran coaches he could put on his staff.

Ivy League does not mean what it used to....just look at the sorry state of this country being run by Ivy Leaguers.

Didn't Diane Sawyer have a big crush on Ausmus when he played? She's a darn nice looking lady for her age, I wonder if he went there...

Being Jewish, I think he was holding out for Barbara Walters.
