A Youkilis bidding war

08:15 AM ET 10.18 | While the White Sox might like to re-sign Kevin Youkilis, the third baseman may have other suitors. [Some] see the rival Indians, who've hired his friend Terry Francona to manage, as a potential threat to try to sign Youkilis now. The Indians' interest is mostly in the speculative stage, but it makes sense. The Indians could use hitters, and especially righthanded ones. The White Sox are expected to decline Youkilis' $13-million option for 2013 (and instead buy him out for $1 million), but they loved Youkilis' contributions and especially his fit in their clubhouse. They would very much like him back. ... Other teams could have interest, as well, including the Phillies, who will seek a third baseman.

He who sneers last, sneers best.

He's not going to make 13 million where ever he ends up. I can't blame a team for taking a shot for short money concidering his injury record.

Of course Chicago loved him...just not $13 million worth of love......

3rd basemen are hard to find, but I would think a rebuilding team like Cleveland would not want to bring in an old guy with a questionable back. Staying with Chicago for a reduced price sounds like the most sensible option.

rangers have too many firstbaseman, but they could use him as a DH or perhaps the rangers should try him in the reliever spot?? who knows he may ending be the right answer for their bullpen!!!

Number one where are you going to play him, not at first or third, and second the Reds will not pay You the kind of money he is looking for.
