12:31 PM ET 10.18 | The Miami Dolphins signed free agent wide receiver Jabar Gaffney two weeks ago, but the veteran has yet to suit up on game day for the team. That could change next week when the Dolphins return from their bye for a game against the Jets. Miami offensive coordinator Mike Sherman says that the Dolphins need to get him up to speed on the offense, which is the reason for the delay.

Remember a few years back, the Pats pulled off a play where Brady threw a lateral to Randy Moss on the sidelines, Brady stepped back, took a return lateral from Moss and threw deep for a touchdown? That was Gaffney with the ball in the end zone.
He had a couple of decent years with New England, left for money, and has bounced around ever since.

Up to speed or down to slow this guy is not a difference maker!

The Pats actually lost something when he went to Denver. (Denver? I think so.) With Moss on the field, Gaffney was the "forgotten deep guy." He always got single coverage, and Brady could find him when Moss was covered. Until this year, the Pats haven't had a deep threat since Moss.
I think the Pats had him in camp in pre-season, but they had a lot of receivers already and didn't see anything worth holding on to.
