Witten blasts any Cowboys non-believers

08:02 AM ET 10.19 | Jerry Jones has become an optimist again, earlier this week touting the Cowboys as evolving into a championship contender. Jones continues to reference the New York Giants' run to a Super Bowl last season after starting 6-6 and winning the NFC East with a 9-7 record. ... [Jason Witten] said Thursday that every player in the Cowboys locker room should feel the same way as Jones. "If you don't, get out of here," Witten said. "But you have to go prove it every week. A lot of games we've done good things and a lot of things we have to improve on. Absolutely. Did the Giants think it at 7-7? That's the way this league goes. I'm not saying that's the formula for doing it. You have to still win games. Let's get it corrected."

Too many players on the team don't have his attitude or his drive.

Jerry is the Chief Cheerleader. Of course he'll look on the bright side. However the Cowboys lack the talent to do anything beyond verbal flirting with winning the division.

It used to be, when the cowboys win they were heading to the SB. Now it's when they LOSE they're going to the SB....

How is that any different than the Redskins?

Hail to the Redskins!
But, nobody has clinched their division yet. Houston and Atlanta look like locks, but they still have to win games. The rest of the division leaders are no more than 2 weeks from being dethroned or being forced to share the top spot.
Stay thirsty, my friends. But don't celebrate too soon.

HAIL!!!
How lowly the NFC South looks this year, ATL may clinch the division next month. It sucks.
Most of the other divisions, I think it's going to go down to the last week of regular season.

It's not always a good thing to clinch your division too early.

Much more exciting football that way. And teams that clinch too early lose their edge.

Overall, I think this has gotten better. Not perfect, but better.
What is puzzling about this team is that the button down, organizational driven coach from Princeton is repeatedly baffled by the details of managing the team during the game.

Between Dallas and San Diego, I am not sure which one does a better job of NOT living up to expectations.

San Diego is living up to my expectations.
But to be honest, I never know what to expect of Dallas. They're one of those Any Given Sunday teams.

And, to be perfectly honest, the Patriots.
Belichick needs to run up the score and not take his foot off the gas until the clock runs out in the second half. The Pats defense sucks, sucks, sucks. We can't count on them to hold a lead.

There are a lot of teams right now that would be wise to heed this advice.
Sportsmanship be damned - keep scoring!

I am a non-believer Mr. Witten when your team doesn't have it head together, drop and throw to many interceptions, bad clock management, and gain almost 500 yards last week and lose.

i'm a non-believer too.... hate to say, especially being a fan. but this team doesn't have the leadership the gaints have had. and the giant's owner doesn't constantly make remarks about how his team is going to do. i suspect JJ will make some serious changes at the end of this season when his team finishes 8-8. maybe all this "hype" about them still being a championship contender is really about putting pressure on this team to perform and win games. when they don't.... and they likely won't, JJ will finally bring the hammer down and get rid of the dead weight - and there's a lot to get rid of!
