The new 'Jet' in Dallas

08:04 AM ET 10.19 | Thanks to Jason Terry, the Mavs have operated as a team with a distinct sixth man, as opposed to a bench mob of sorts. It may not work that way anymore with Terry moved on to Boston. But if Vince Carter has anything to say about it, the Mavericks won't miss Terry's instant offense off the bench. "I'm down for it," Carter said when asked if he wanted to be the new sixth man. "I'll come in and help the team, remain verbal -- I do that well. I just try to keep us going forward and not regress. When the second unit comes on the floor, they have to keep it going. I just try to do a little bit of everything to help the team." Carter has all the requirements of a good sixth man.

QUOTE(#5):

VC as a jet will be about as effective as a popcorn fart in a hurricane.

I like that..........VC is reading a bad book and its called "My Imagination" cause thats all he's doing now. He should go home to Florida where I understand he does fine things with his charities in Daytona. Enjoy the beach if you're not broke and I definately don't think he is.

Vince has changed his game. He's a spot up shooter now, which is what Jet is. So he can give Mavs solid play off the bench. However, unlike jet, he'll likely be on bench in crunch time. OJ gets those minutes.

QUOTE(#4):

Yeah, I don't see a rebirth out of himUnless we are talking about his mopy face, which usually is right on

What many people have forgotten is that JET played point guard in the league. Watching him this past week I think his real value is how he passes, reads the defense and excellent shot selection. That's what Dallas will miss cos that's what Carter's never been and never will be.

JET is a great pick up for the Celts. His age shows on defense but that's irrelevant at this point.
