Crosby's owner has done more than any one owner has done for any other player in league history to help mold him into the player he is today. If i'm a player, i'm telling him to shut up.

To all the NHL players criticising the NHL......... ****!!!! The NHL is the only reason why most of the population know who you are........... so suck it up! do you think you would get 7 mil a year working at McDonald's? only if the Big Mac was worth $50,000 each

The offers were not ridiculous and the players whining makes no sense since they have yet to make a counter proposal of any kind.

The players made 3 proposals on Thursday, which were rejected within 15 minutes:

The PA???s first proposal would have the players get a fixed share of HRR during the first three years of a new CBA and their share of the presumably growing pie would be frozen afterward until it hit 50 percent. Now, that percentage is not guaranteed. It depends on how much league revenue grows, but Fehr said he believed the business would get to 50 in three years.

Their second proposal used the owners??? projection that the business will grow at a five percent rate. (It???s grown seven in recent seasons.) The players would get down to 50 percent by taking only 24 percent of that growth over the next five years, which would get them to 51 by Year 4 and 50 by Year 5.

The third proposal, perhaps the most intriguing ??? and certainly the easiest to understand ??? is that the players would go to a 50-50 split of HRR now if the owners promise to honor all the contracts they have signed ??? with no escrow.

...the calculations the PA has made show that the owners would, over five years, save between $796 million and $1.117 billion on the first option the players presented and $854 million to 1.059 billion on the second option. They haven???t run the numbers yet on the third option but none of them proved acceptable to the owners. ???What we didn???t do,??? Fehr said, ???was give the owners savings of billions right now against the record growth they have enjoyed.???

That's called a counter proposal.

Bettman is the worst commissioner in sports.... And that's saying a lot considering the other idiots are Selig, Stern, and Goodell...

This is the third lockout in major American sports in the last 15 months. Anyone seeing a trend? The trend is greedy billionaires in every type of business are trying to break unions nationwide. The greed of these as.sholes will prevail in the end unfortunately, because the players will end up conceding a lot. It's how it always works out...

By no means am I on the owners sides but you rarely get to be million/billionaires without being buisness savy. Its folly to expect resolutions without negotiations, even if what the owners have offered and conduct so far has been quite ridiculous. Unfortunately you wouldn't have any of these major sports without these "greedy as.sholes"

And the "every type of business are trying to break unions nationwide" is hogwash is it happening on some levels yes but nationwide no. For as many good unions there are there is also an equivalent number of unions that protect and enable scum (i.e. some teachers unions, NFLPA with bounty gate how can you protect those harming your own?, etc.)

So to you sir I say hogwash
