11:48 AM ET 10.21 | Denny Hamlin understands why NASCAR was so concerned about the hit he took during a crash earlier this week at Kansas Speedway. The accident -- Hamlin's Toyota tagged the wall while testing the speedway's newly repaved track Thursday -- left Hamlin feeling dizzy and disoriented. Hamlin was ruled OK by doctors and was cleared to race in Sunday's Hollywood Casino 400. But Hamlin's crash got NASCAR's attention, especially after Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s doctor advised him to sit out last week's race at Charlotte and this weekend at Kansas due to two concussions he'd recently sustained. So Hamlin has been hearing from NASCAR quite a bit over the last few days.

This is all good......they need to pay more attention to this....especially since serious symptoms don't always show up right away.

BTW....Jr has been cleared to race again next week at Martinsville.

Correction: Mr. H. came on near the end of the race to say he was wrong. Jr has not been cleared yet. His earlier announcement was premature. Jr has more tests to go through, but so far so good. Should know for sure Wednesday latest.

Danica is not a good enough driver to be "getting even" with Cassill or anyone else.....she needs to just focus on getting a better finish each race and leave the kiddy revenge to the experts.

yea definitely. all drivers should have multiple concussions and put themselves and others at risk for your entertainment, right? i mean who really cares if they have scrambled eggs for brains later on in life as long as you're entertained.. makes perfect sense to me

Closed head injuries are nothing to screw with -- I applaud NASCAR if they take any of the NFLs lead on this ... even some victims do not know their motor skills have dropped off ...

jimmie will get all the credit as usual, but his team should get credit for that finish. They did a great job getting that car raceable, it also doesn't hurt having the hendrick power either lol. Ask ole Regan Smith

That Regan Smith in the #88 finished 7th ahead of Jimmie 9th and Jeffy 10th......Regan is getting better all the time....too bad his temp ride ends this week.....don't get me wrong, I'm glad Jr is headed back to the track....but hope Regan get s a ride next year.

Also glad Denny is ok, too.
