08:01 AM ET 10.22 | Strike up the "sticky situations" references in San Diego. The Chargers could face NFL discipline after it allegedly used Stickum, or a similar banned adhesive, to gain a competitive advantage during at least one game, according to an ongoing league investigation. "We are looking into it," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello wrote in a Sunday email. At the team's Oct. 15 game against the Broncos, line judge Jeff Bergman confiscated a sticky substance from a member of the Chargers equipment staff, Aiello confirmed. The substance has been sent to both the Broncos and league office. The details were first reported by Fox Sports' Jay Glazer. Potential discipline includes a fine with the possible loss of at least one draft pick.

No a Bad Move Norv!!!!

It was just hair gel.

When you start talking losing draft picks, it's real.

October 22, 2012  08:28 AM ET

On the other hand, I can't that this "competitive advantage" has been of much help to them. I don't think it even balances out the "competitive disadvantage" of having Norv as their head coach.

Biletnikoff, whose got an award named after him, was covered with stickum. What's the problem? Let everybody use it. What's hurt? One team has better stickum than another team? Please.

The Raiders were the team that made stickum famous.

But, their moms complained because it was so hard to get their uniforms clean every week.

Losing a draft pick isn't that bad for the chargers. AJ would have drafted a bust with it anyways.

October 22, 2012  10:31 AM ET

Even if they were using it, it didn't help much.

Rivers should have used it...maybe some of those INTs would have never happened

October 22, 2012  10:42 AM ET

wait, you're telling me there's an offense-advantage out there that the league DOESN'T allow?

Yes. Plus its easier to make it legal than to be sure you have caught ALL the teams who are sneaking it in.

October 22, 2012  11:51 AM ET

I am not sure why they made it illeagle It was fun watching all those one handed catches

October 22, 2012  11:51 AM ET

Actually that might solve some problems. Remember when if the ball was within 7 feet of a receiver it was caught.

October 22, 2012  12:16 PM ET

Instead of taking away a draft pick, make them use KY the next time they play the Broncos.

October 22, 2012  12:17 PM ET

SpyGate, Bountygate, now Stickumgate???

October 22, 2012  12:22 PM ET

I remember when the Raiders used so much stickum that a ball hit Lester Hayes' uniform and stuck there.

October 22, 2012  12:29 PM ET

So maybe Nick Novak wasn't just peeing on the sideline last year...maybe he was doing something else?

October 22, 2012  12:36 PM ET

memo to Dean Spanos and company - it isn't stick'em that you need, it's new leadership from the top down and from down up. Nope, not even stick'em could fix this mess.

October 22, 2012  01:32 PM ET

Might make it harder to get rid of em though

October 22, 2012  01:35 PM ET

The Chargers will be stripped of their 7 Tour de France victories.....oh wait
