Holliday out for Game 7

08:12 AM ET 10.22 | St. Louis' hibernating offense sure could use a lift from No. 3 hitter Matt Holliday, though he was a late scratch from Sunday's lineup. [Holliday], immobilized by back spasms, was a late scratch from the Game 6 lineup. The back felt even worse during the game, so at this point you have to think Holliday will be a no-go for Game 7. The Cardinals already had to carry on without right fielder Carlos Beltran (except for one at-bat) in Games 3 and 4. But at last they survived his absence by winning both games. But since returning Beltran is two for eight with three strikeouts. ... In San Francisco's three wins, the Cardinals' core of Jon Jay, Holliday, Beltran, Allen Craig, Molina and David Freese is 12 for 66 (.181) with one RBI.

If his back spasms felt even worse sitting on the bench then he should have been in the game.

The Cards have done this all year either they all hit together or don't hi at all. Probably with 7 out and 3 hurting their hopes of playing on Wednesday night at home are very slim.

I thikn the Cards will pull this off -- they've got that mojo. As far as who I want to see face the Tigers? Well, it would be nice to get a chance at revenge against the Cards, but the Tigers have only played the giants like 4 times or something in both teams' entire history, so that would be fun.
All I know is that I'm looking forward to Wednesday.

Either match-up should be good. I would like to see the Giants pitchers vs the Tigers hitters; not sure who would win, but it would be fun to watch. The Cards seem to be losing players, not at full strength.

Actually, they've been playing scrimmages against their farm-hands to stay fresh.

Detroit-St.Louis; 7-game magic series like '34 or '68 not over in five like '06. Too bad we can't get in the TV booth like 1968; Curt Gowdy was partnered with Harry Caray[Cardinal announcer] and Ernie Harwell[Tiger announcer]. Caray[b4 wet-brain] and Harwell were in their prime, knew their teams and when to shut-up, something that seems impossible for Tim MacCarver.

It's definitely been feast or famine for the last couple of months. Either the Cards score 7 or 8 runs or they get shut down completely to 0 or 1 run.

I hear ya, SGB. I feel the same way.
It worked out last year in Game 7. Craig replaced Holliday and ended up with the game winning RBI in that game with his HR. It's just frustrating that every time we have a critical game, Holliday is sitting out.

holliday not much of a help for the cards/ beltran not much of a help for the cards/ conclusion the giants walk over the cards and take the series,,,,

Yeah, have to agree.....because this Cardinal team has shown no resiliency the last couple of years when faced with tough situations.
