Notre Dame's big 'if' before showdown

08:14 AM ET 10.22 | Tommy Rees may wind up making the long walk back to the bench in South Bend, after all. Brian Kelly on Sunday was still toggling sophomore Everett Golson's availability as fifth-ranked Notre Dame's No. 1 quarterback option, less than 18 hours after trumpeting it as an absolute. The Irish head football coach still expects his first-year starter to wade into college football's deep end, Saturday night at eighth-ranked Oklahoma's Memorial Stadium, where the Sooners are 78-4 in coach Bob Stoops' reign. The latest "if" is a Monday cardio test Golson is expected to ace, which would get him back in a game for the first time since the 3:24 mark of the fourth quarter of a 20-13 overtime win over Stanford on Oct. 13.

The domers probably ought to have 6 or 7 quarterbacks ready to play against the 7-time national champions.

Given the recent performances of both OU and K-State. the loss at to K-State is looking more and more reasonable, and OU has looked very strong since... This could be a tough one for ND to keep close... Definitely want to see more of this type of match up in the future though!

Oh cool! 7 Time national champion! Is Jason White playing quarterback?

Hey Piratey, Jones is actually playing well now that he has a comfort level with his new slew of receivers. I am so looking forward to this one. I am not going to talk a lot of smack, but I do think our speed at receiver will be the difference in the game as I feel our defense will be able to hold your offense in check. Should be a blast. Any domer fans coming to the game shout at me, I am good for a few cold ones and know some great spots to visit!!!

Enough already with the QB at ND, too much, none worth all this talk!

K-State is legit.

They play at TCU, at Baylor and home game with the horns. Not too much left there to stop them going undefeated.

Looking forward to a great game. Getting the popcorn ready and the beverages on ice.

Yepper. They jumped the Ducks in the BCS, too, now it's Bammer, Gatahs, K St then Quacks.

Speaking of the BCS, I see the Gatahs are first in the computer rankings but still 2nd overall.

You see that, OT? Playing tough teams gets you points with the computers, so seems like the puzzszy-scheduling Gatahs don't really have such a puzzszy schedule after all, when you put them all together. Got #10 in the BCS rankings UGaly coming up this week, and FreeShoesU not too far down the road.

That would then be the 7-time national champions playing against the 11-time national champions...?
