According to reports his salary in the KHL is $3 million a year less than in the US. Apparantly that's not a significant cut? Secondly, if you're that unhappy Alex, stay there. There will be no crying anywhere. It'll do wonders for the reputation you seem bent on ruining. Finally, whatever happens I don't believe any CURRENT contracts should be reduced. The owners signed 'em............right up until a few hours before the lockout. That's one thing I totally agree with the NHLPA about. Change going forward....................no change to contracts already signed.

That's what I want to see. Russian players who weren't good enough for the KHL playing over here. The quality of the sport will benefit oh so much ;)

But there will always be others.

Owners are probably counting on the contracts being reduced.
Look at the Wild. Teams signing last minute contracts counting on a reduction on this year's CBA is complete BS. Hold them accountable.

Dead on Slappy ! I am certainly a self disclosed member of the pro-owners camp in this matter, but any new deal better honor the deals they willingly and eagerly signed.

Why should the players have their salaries reduced on contracts signed by the owners? The issue here isn't the players salaries, it's the mismanagement of the league by putting franchises in markets that won't support a team. That is the primary cause, along with ridiculous contracts handed out by GMs, for the financial problems faced by teams. Asking the players to be responsible for shoddy management is a joke. If the owners can't afford to pay these salaries, then they shouldn't be offering these contracts.

The question is why aren't teams maintaining their financial houses better.
