08:08 AM ET 10.23 | Dwight Howard has all sorts of motivation entering 2012-13 -- including a perceived snub. [Howard] had a big smile on his face a day after making his debut for the Los Angeles Lakers, but he still feels the sting of how things ended in Orlando when he thinks about his trophy shelf. Howard was recognized as the best defender in the league as well as the best interior defender when NBA.com announced the results of its annual survey of the league's 30 general managers Monday, but Howard still wants to know why he isn't the reigning Defensive Player of the Year. "I thought I should have won it last year, to be honest with you," Howard told reporters after practice Monday. "I was a little bit upset about that."

One Ring To Rule Them All, Bro.

October 23, 2012  09:22 AM ET

Well here's my take......
He misses a buncha FT's, he'been slow to develop low post moves of the nature of Kareem, Hakeem, The Cheif, Moses and the rest of your fundamentally sound centers. He made a Magic Management & Coaching induced bad decision/debacle outta his trade demands. He doesn't have a familar go to move. Yes granted, he has these well known flaws and indescresions, we all know this.

Now on to the gravy. You have all sorts of Posters, GM's, and Hate Filled Media types lauding this inaccurate assessment of Howard based solely on this inane description of Howard. You have those who believe that Headcase Bynum is better, others who even louded that Brook Lopez is better, some that say Marcc Gasol, yeah mister softee, Pau's brother is better. These are all thoughts of grandeur, misguided, but nonetheless thoughts, ass foolish as they are.

Hate asides, as well as misplaced thoughts, Dwight Howard is absolutely right in assessing himself as the best center in the "entire NBA" and the best defensive player as well. In the low post things that can and will happen; dominate rebounder, dominate defender, dominate scored inside of 3ft to the basket, shot changer, shot blocker, shot intimidator. A big man who runs the floor with gazelle like athletisicsm, both offensively and defensively. "He is simply and truly the best Center, bar none, in the entire NBA and the only player close to him defensively is another who went through mountains of hate and disdain...Lebron James.

Lastly, as much as I dislike the Lakers, Kobe particularly, I wish both of them well in their attempt to gain the NBA title. I truly hope this happen this year and I think it can and will happen. Lebron and the Miami Heat is their only obstacle. It is funny how three of the most hated individuals in recent memory, James, Kobe and Howard, will now continue to shut up the detractors, myself included, by continuely winning championships, hate asides.

Its painstakenly hard for me to say, buttttt.........Kobe and Howard I want you to win the ring this year. The only thing that would make me happier would be....the unlikelihood of Melo and my Knicks winning it all. End of Story!

Dude, in case you missed the subject of the thread, none of this has anything to do with DEFENSE.
