Phils could inquire about A-Rod

08:14 AM ET 10.23 | It can't hurt to ask about Alex Rodriguez, right? [The] fact that a player who was considered one of the best in baseball as recently as a few years ago might be available is at least interesting. The fact that said player happens to play third base is at least intriguing if you're the Philadelphia Phillies. In case you've managed to forget all about the 2012 season - which might be a good thing -- you might recall that third base was a black hole in the infield at Citizens Bank Park this season. If you knew New York was shopping Rodriguez -- and that the deep-pocketed Yanks were willing to eat a large portion of the contract -- would you place a call if you were Ruben Amaro Jr.? Of course you would.

Mr. Writer I am sure it is great reading for Phils fans, but what old player would the Yanks be interested in.

You forgot to add he can't seem to stay healthy anymore either. Just what the Phils need, another aging, injury prone player.

Also, it's not like they have another 3B in the farm system ready to take over A-Rod's place. So, in addition to eating a ton of the A-Rod money, Yanks would have to spend additional money on A-Rod's replacement. I just don't see it happening, especially this year.
Unless someone decides that Nunez can play third (I can hear jgb screaming already)

Good point. Eric Chavez isn't the answer. He's a nice back up, but he can't play full time. He'd be on the DL in no time. As for Nunez, he's pretty rough defensively from what I have seen of him.

But the real question A-Rod wants to know. Is there a lot a sweet pieces of ass in Philly?
