01:13 PM ET 10.23 | Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson has passed his concussion test and is cleared to lead the Fighting Irish for their big top-ten matchup against the Oklahoma Sooners this weekend. After extensive tests on Monday, Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly announced that Golson had done enough to return to the starting line-up. Golson suffered the concussion on October 13th against Stanford and was held out of last week's game against BYU for precautionary reasons. Now, with Notre Dame's biggest matchup of the years set to take place, Golson is ready to go. "It went very well, he feels great, very confident," Kelly said. "We wanted to do that more because he hadn't had the opportunity to get out there and run and we didn't want to wait until Saturday. He's good. He's 100 percent. He'll start for us against Oklahoma on Saturday." While it is good news for the Fighting Irish to have their starting quarterback under center, the key to victory for Notre Dame is on the defensive side of the ball.

.....my expert analysis indicates the irish are still the same team that has sucked for 20 years and will get steamrolled by the bigger, faster, stronger team from tornado alley....

Should be a good one, the last time OU beat ND was in 1956, histroy holds ND 8-1 against this mid west challenger...go IRISH.

That is some ugly ****!!!

Up to this point, I am not a believer that they are legit....if they beat OK.....they will have attention....

October 23, 2012  02:23 PM ET

So Golson will start, the question is will Rees be able to come in and do his usual thing to ugly-up a win?

October 23, 2012  02:25 PM ET

Goodness, another crappy thread about the ND QB, at least after they get completely blown away by Okie the threads about ND will be, I guess they had not played anyone up to that point that was any good, but you just wait till next year. :-)

October 23, 2012  02:34 PM ET

ND is 8-1 lifetime vs OK. They won the last meeting in 1999. Are you going to tell me that today's team and coaching staff doesn't have a head case about ND? Well, alright then.

The IRISH have something to prove, they are hungry and up to the task, not many expected them to be undefeated at this point in the season...HEART, that they have.
