03:41 PM ET 10.23 | It was known almost immediately when the injury happened that Detroit Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson would need surgery to repair his broken right leg, but the timetable for his return had been up in the air as the team only announced that he'd miss the rest of the regular season. It seems that the news is worse than anticipated, unfortunately, as the Detroit Free Press has indicated that Burleson might be out for the next eight months for the injury and rehabilitation process.

How long can Stanford throw an ave. of 44 a game, and come up a loser with Mega-a-mamma out there?

That sucks. He's one of the few Lions that I like.

That won't hurt a team that after preseason games and two months in the schedule, come out every game like a beer league, "Ok you play center, who wants to play WR, hey can you punt?" How they can be so inept week after week I don't know. Any team on monday could have beat the Bears, but the Lions beat themselves instead.

8 months, eh? So, can they stay in the playoff hunt until June?
