05:34 PM ET 10.23 | Jacksonville Jaguars starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert has a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder. Despite the injury, Gabbert wants to play on Sunday when the Jags take on the Green Bay Packers -- and plans to, unless team doctors prevent him from playing. Gabbert suffered the injury during Jacksonville's Week 7 loss to the Oakland Raiders. Gabbert was injured in the second quarter, after taking a hit from Oakland defensive tackle Tommy Kelly. Through Jacksonville's first six games, Gabbert has completed 88-of-158 passes for 906 yards. Gabbert has thrown six touchdowns, against just three interceptions. If Gabbert is unable to play on Sunday, Chad Henne will start for Jacksonville.

This is not a Wally Pipp situation. Chad Henne will not be playing Lou Gehrig and taking the job away. Let him take the pounding for a week or two, and live to see a new coach who doesn't think the QB should be the feature back.
Granted Gabbert was in a zone--virtually mediocre, which is a terrific improvement over last year--but no need to get killed before the new regime arrives.

They're 1-5 and MJD is injured. The only bright side is that no one expected them to be much better than they are.
Los Angeles Jaguars. How does that sound?

This way Gabbert has a ready-made excuse for why he played so poorly.

Oh here we go. Have you been following the owners' meetings? NFL owners want Chavez Ravine, not LA as the site. Also, AEG was put up for sale in September. Additional language was put into the contract which allows the city council more power to kill the deal if AEG???s new owner lacks the money, sports management experience or character required. Does potential buyer Patrick Soon-Shiong have the "experience"? So wait until all of the dust settles before you jump in with that scenario. I'm not even going to discuss how Mr. Khan is locked into Jacksonville due to the contract signed between the city and the Jags or how San Diego has a 3 month clause in their contract to leave immediately since they are on a year to year lease.

By the way what is the line for Sunday's game vs. the Packers?? Right it doesn't matter since MJD is out and Gabbert is, well, Gabbert. "And with the first pick in the 2013 NFL Draft the Jaguars select..."
