07:56 AM ET 10.24 | Victor Cruz wants to spend his entire career with the New York Giants, a matter he hopes to have wrapped up soon. [Cruz] again expressed hope on Tuesday that he and the Giants will agree on a long-term contract long before he hits the open market in March, 2014. In fact, in his weekly WFAN appearance, he said he hopes it happens much sooner than that. Like maybe sometime in the next few weeks. "We would like to get it done before the season's (over)," Cruz said. "We don't want to drag it along and (have it) become something that blocks the team in the offseason, and something that's in the media every day. We don't want it to get like that. We want to just knock it out halfway through the season, or during the season at the very least."

I'm surprised the Giants negotiate contracts during the season, seems like it would be a distraction...

Giants are notoriously cheap, when it comes to 2nd contracts. This should get interesting.

That was my first response, too. I was reading it wondering how Cruz could even mention a contract while games were being played.

He's played his way into a good contract. It will come - just don't shoot your mouth off so much that you alienate the GM and back yourself into a corner.

The trouble with winning is that everybody on the team wants more money, and you've got the same cap limits as every other team.

Until Jerry Rice comes out and says that Victor Cruz is better than he was, just zip it & play out your contract............

Yip. That's why they lose players

But at the same time they do a good job at recycling, and bringing in youth, and WINNING.

Can't knock that.
