Nowitzki taking heat for surgery

08:03 AM ET 10.24 | Like beauty, timing is often in the eye of the beholder, and there may be a disconnect between some fans and Dirk Nowitzki on the timing on his surgery. He said he felt like having the surgery done last Friday was good timing, but he got the impression others didn't see it that way. "I think it was the right moment to do it," Nowitzki said. "Obviously, I took some heat for the timing of it, but if I would have fought through it this whole season -- swelling off and on, having it drained here and there -- I think it's a bad situation for all involved." It's unclear who Nowitzki was referencing when he said he took some heat. But a 14-year veteran who has been a perennial all-star and is a sure-fire hall of famer probably deserves a little latitude.

QUOTE(#4):

100% true-
but I think the only criticism is that he waited til now, rather than doing it last year or earlier in the summer....

Why would he have surgery earlier this summer when he had no symptoms earlier this summer?

He should of done it earlier but it's not like the Mavs are going anywhere this season anyway, Cuban killed any chance of another serious run after blowing up the team 2 years ago.

Here's what I do know... we have the best coach in the league. He's going to earn every penny Cuban is paying him over the next few months.

And - I think we will be fine. Of course - that's the homer in me talking.

He does not deserve any leway. This is why I HATE DALLAS. Dirk is white so he can do whatever he wants including waiting 4 months to have surgery on something he knew he needed surgery on.

Dallas you are a pathetic sports town you racist pigs
