Rangers nearly unrecognizable in 2013?

08:09 AM ET 10.24 | The run to a third consecutive trip to the Fall Classic came to an end on Oct. 5, and work is already underway in getting the Rangers back in 2013. They are faced with a group of seven players, led by Josh Hamilton and Mike Napoli, who will become free agents once the World Series ends. If the Rangers are to return to the World Series in 12 months, they won't look like the club that went in 2010 and 2011 or the team that was a contender again this year. The decision on Hamilton is the first domino, which could start a chain reaction of trades, free-agent signings and position swaps that might have Justin Upton in right field, Zack Greinke in the rotation, and Ian Kinsler leaving second base. Far-fetched? Probably.

The F/W Star Telegram ... the trash mag of Texas. Knows nothing and forgets history. Quite frankly, this years Rangers team reminds me of the team that started out very hot in 08 and 09, but more like 09 ... where they were at the top of the pack in the West, then totally collapsed in September ... no hitting, no fielding, no PITCHING ... almost identical
get some **** reporters who know what the hell they're talking about ... putz's

They have a lot of moving parts this off season. I have no idea what they'll do but it will be interesting to watch. The Rangers will be a hot stove topic all winter.

I don't think so Sarge. True, they've blown 3 opportunities but I think they'll have on to enough talent to make another run.

The Rangers have become one of the MLB's reloading teams, not a rebuilding team. Daniels has done one hell of a job with the farm system. I equate them to the Alabama of the MLB, one goes down another just as good is there to take their place. The only bullet that is unique is Hamilton, and he will be resigned. Napoli will as well to platoon catcher and DH. The interesting thing is going to be first base. I am starting to think Mike Olt is the answer since he is learning the position as we speak. That makes Moreland, Murphy, Cruz and Andrus trade bait, all of which will get major bites in the offseason.
P.S. - Don't forget about Lohse, he could sign as well.

Who is going to make Hamilton an offer is the big question.

They had too many injuries to their pitching staff with Lewis, Feliz, Hollan, Ogando, Uehara, and Ross all out at one time. Their starting pitching depth was thin and could not cover for these DLs. Lewis hurt the most. Pitching has to be their priority this off season.

I think I agree. If they can't or don't keep Hamilton, then I think lots of changes happen. If they keep him then I think fewer moves. What to do with Young is another component to the offseason.

Dumbass. Texas still had a helluva year, even with guys such as Colby Lewis and Feliz on the disabled list.
They'll be different after a makeover, but Texas probably has more talent - major and minor league levels combined - than any team in MLB right now. They'll be back next year, whereas Oakland is likely to regress a little after a magical '12.
