League tried end-around past NHLPA

08:16 AM ET 10.24 | Gary Bettman may have found yet another way to run afoul of the players. Bettman and the league released a memo last week, unbeknownst to the NHLPA, that said general managers across the league were permitted to talk to players during a specific 48-hour window. But instead of easing the tension of what is sure to be awkward communication between a team's executive and his players, the league's actions may have a deleterious effect. ... Although the memo strictly prohibits GMs from negotiating, coercing, undermining the NHLPA or soliciting feedback on the bargaining process, some will certainly view the league's effort as an attempt at an end-around past union leadership.

After watching this I came up with a solution to the lockout but I need a flux capacitor.

Nice. A circle, with some sort of jerk is more organized than this.

First the league rejects all 3 counter proposals in 15 minutes. Then the league declines an invitation to restart negiotiations. Now this. Hackel's right, does the NHL even want a CBA? They seem to have their base negiotiation as "We're going to have a lockout" and won't budge from that.

They are having a lock-out.
The NHL is bruised that their proposal was rejected...now they will make the players' pay by missing a few pay checks before they will reconsider further negations. IMO anyways.
