01:32 PM ET 10.24 | The NFL has been a strong support of Breast Cancer Awareness month with their "Crucial Catch" campaign, which is part of a partnership with the American Cancer Society. The campaign is focused on the importance of annual screenings, especially for women who are 40 and older. In an effort to raise awareness for the campaign, NFL players wear pink gear throughout the month of October. The NFL also places a pink ribbon on the field and on the official game balls. Now, the NFL is going a step further. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced today that the league will use pink penalty flags for the AFC East showdown between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The use of pink flags was suggested by an 11-year-old fan and Goodell has decided to roll with the idea.
