01:39 PM ET 10.24 | The Denver Nuggets have until October 31 to work out a long-term extension with point guard Ty Lawson, and it appears things are progressing well. Word around the league suggests the Nuggets are willing to offer a four-year, $45 million deal, according to the Racine Journal-Times. If Lawson and the Nuggets don't agree on a deal by October 31, he will be a restricted free agent next summer.

The real Lawson will come out once he signs the contract. Players play these owners all the time...

I think you are seeing the real Ty Lawson. I have been watching him play since he was a freshman in high school and I have never seen him as a player who lets off the gas. As a comparison, I also saw Michael Beasley in high school and I could have told anyone back then that he had issues.
Those few years in the DC area produced Ty Lawson, Greivis Vasquez, Nolan Smith, Dante Cunningham, Michael Beasley and...Devin Durant just to name the most notable.

In signing players owners have to assume the players aren't gonna get any better. So the question remains... is Lawson worth 45mil at current value? I don't think so. Don't look too far. Wilson Chandler is another example... it's like he got lost soon as he signed that deal. The only players that are doing well are those that are playing for a contract or still on their rookie contracts... it is what the owners can't see while these players keep heading to the bank....
