07:45 AM ET 10.25 | Yankees Manager Joe Girardi said Wednesday he has not yet spoken to Andy Pettitte, who is again mulling retirement, or Mariano Rivera, this offseason. In fact, [Girardi] said that he has never spoken with the 42-year-old Rivera about his future plans. "I never asked," Girardi said. "That way I don't have the answer." But, Girardi added, "I don't think you push your rehab as hard as he pushed it unless you have some interest in coming back." He gave a similar statement regarding the 40-year-old Pettitte, whom has not yet announced whether he would return for another year after coming out of retirement to pitch this season. "There's a lot of hunger and fire in him, I know that," Girardi said.

I'm sure Mo will be back and be as good as ever. But as far as Andy goes, it will be interesting to see how the Yankees handle that situation. IMO, he only good for maybe 20 starts, so if he does want to return, when will they want him and for how much. Of course if CC's elbow is worse than expected Andy's price will go way up.

I think it would be great to have both guys back. The only thing is, at some point we have to make way for the younger guys. If Mo comes back, what's to come of our closer from this season that did a good job? With Andy back, is Nova knocked out of the rotation?

You're going to get there too sooner than you think with that overweight 1st baseman. That is, unless he gets himself in shape. Obese every day players are pretty much done by 34-35.

We'll see. There are 25 men on the roster, most of whom are in good shape and still in their 20s. The Yankees are on the verge of getting an AARP discount.
