07:56 AM ET 10.25 | As the lockout hits another overtime, whatever grip the Hurricanes had on the minds of local fans has loosened. [The Hurricanes] already have slipped so far off the radar they might as well have moved to Quebec. ... It was by far the best summer of hockey in North Carolina that didn't involve visits from the Stanley Cup, and generated more excitement about the upcoming season than any since the team moved here. That upcoming season still hasn't happened. ... When you decide to shut down for absolutely no reason, so a few hardline owners can squeeze a few last dollars out of the players -- completely out of spite, because the last labor agreement was "too fair" -- you take the risk that interest will wane in places like this one.

Just put them in brightly coloured cars and have them turn left a lot.

no...ABSOLUTELY the Hurricanes. this is yet another illustration of why Bettman has it wrong. We here in the North East, those in Canada, Minnesota...we are thinking about it, talking about it, wishing for it...
in NASCAR land...not so much

Quickly becoming a drizzle.

In Carolina and several other places where the sun shines everyday over the now empty arenas that Gary put teams in...a lot of those populations don't even know that there is a lock-out.

Agree completely Spiny. QC should have a team. Maybe another in the TOR area (Hamilton)? Hartford (bring back the whale!). Good analogy on the NASCAR point. You dont see NASCAR ramming their product down us Northerners throat. For the life of me i never understood why Bettman did that with the NHL to the Southerners. IT DOESNT/DIDNT WORK BETTMAN! Hockey in the bible belt is a foreign and silly to them as watching a car race in a circle is to us.

Nacho, Nacho, Nacho once again you baffle me. You speak so soundly and logically yet its coming from the fist carrying flag. I scroll down and see the fist flag and expect nonsensical flabber blabber and I get the exact opposite. You confuse me please please please add an avatar even if it is a hotdog covered with nacho cheeze (b/c your Nacho Johnson get it)
