04:14 PM ET 10.25 | NBA commissioner David Stern will officially step down on February 1, 2014, 30 years to the day of his original appointment. Stern announced the news following the NBA Board of Governors meeting. Deputy commissioner Adam Silver, as expected, will take over for Stern.
