08:39 AM ET 10.26 | Among the many folks caught between the players and owners haggling over a CBA are the men in stripes, such as big veteran linesman Mike Cvik. "The goofy part is, we're like everybody else. We don't know what's going on behind closed doors. You hear X from one side, Y from another. I know they're haggling about money, but other than that I have no clue as to what the other issues are and how it ties into anything. That's why I don't get too wired up about it anymore." ... "Hey, I'm fully prepared to jump on the ice tomorrow if they have a deal. Either that or ... I start sending out resumes. If we need to get through 'til next September. Or the September after that. By then, my time might be up anyways."

On another thread somewhere I read that the NHL could be taking advantage of this lock-out in one regard...extended and regular training of the NHL officials.
I thought it was actually not a bad idea.

be quiet Mike...don't you know, this about Gary vs. Donald...players, fans, vendors, parking attendants, officials...none of you matter.....
If somone asked me nicely and gave me (and us) the chance, I would lock these two idiots in a room with their respective minions till this was done...no leaving.....I assure you, they would not get out...

As long as the training includes how to recognize offsides, it will be useful.

Be careful.

You should make sure what "weight class" the wrestlers are in, first
