08:21 AM ET 10.26 | Milwaukee hasn't been shy about making plays for big-name players in recent years, and the franchise may be ready to pitch to another. [The Brewers] are seriously considering a run at superstar free-agent outfielder Josh Hamilton, according to people familiar with their thinking. The Brewers believe Milwaukee is a viable market for Hamilton, and it doesn't hurt that their hitting coach is Johnny Narron, who is very close to Hamilton from their days together in Cincinnati and Texas. Narron was Hamilton's original "life coach" with the Reds and Rangers. In Texas he generally thrived and is credited for having only two relapses. Brewers owner Mark Attanasio declined comment on a possible try for Hamilton.

By the time Josh signs, FN will have had him going to every team in baseball.

Bernie Brewer jumping into a Big beer mug after Josh hits a homerun ? seems like a perfect fit for a recovering addict.

To be able to sign him they would have to pay the man more money than their superstar is making, and if they did that then they would have an unhappy number 8.

If the Brewers couldn't afford Fielder, why do they think they can afford Hamilton?

That visual alone might give him ideas.

Judging from the headline, I think the Brewers might just want to get a few drinks into Hambone and drag him into the men's room.

That ruined my breakfast!

Including Japan????

Brewers couldn't keep Freddy Prince, what makes them think Josh will want to shiver through a couple seasons, when he can stay warm as texas toast.

October 26, 2012  10:53 AM ET

There is way too much to drink in that town to even be considering signing him.

I had the exact same thought. Personally I think Hamilton gets more cash than fielder. He's not 100 pounds over weight...

Yes..the Brewers. A perfect landing spot for someone with his addictions.

October 26, 2012  11:24 AM ET

Good luck trying to sign Hamilton. He wants to win and Milwaukee it's not the right place for him.

October 26, 2012  11:27 AM ET

If he is comfortable in his sobriety it doesn't matter where he goes AND if he is not it still doesn't matter. It only takes about 10$ to get drunk.

October 26, 2012  11:28 AM ET

Well, the brewers lose nothing by put in a word towards Hamilton, but does Hamilton have
Show any interest at all in the brewers? Probably not know why??? Because the beer would drag him down again,,,

Hamilton its expecting to sign with the Phillies/Yankees/tigers/red Sox/and the last resort the nationals:-) :-)

October 26, 2012  11:32 AM ET

Milwaukee has been considered a viable landing place for Hamilton for months now, primarily because of Narron.

I predict that once Hamilton leaves Texas, he will be out of baseball within two years...but he will have his money.
