08:29 AM ET 10.26 | In football parlance, a gash is an offense scoring on a long run or pass, something with which the Buckeyes are all too familiar lately. [Take] a look at the deep, long cuts that Ohio State has endured on defense: 11 times opponents have had plays of 40 yards or longer, one more than all of last season, when the team went 6-7. Coach Urban Meyer vowed after a 52-49 win at Indiana that the gashes were about to stop. He stepped into the defensive coaches' meetings and said that a plan had been hatched. Then came Purdue's first offensive play last Saturday. ... [Purdue] sent two backs on routes up the field, with Akeem Shavers having no one in front of him as he caught a pass and sprinted to the end zone for an 83-yard touchdown.

52-49 should concern every fan of theirs. The 7-0 record or whatever their record is, is a paper tiger. Not because they haven't played anyone, Alabama could have the same thing said, but it is how they are winning against these really bad teams. OT against purdue. 52-49 against Indiana. Not looking real strong. Not going to be ranked #1 in the AP even if the go undefeated.

If O'Brien keeps Penn State competitive for the four year probation, he will be one of the most sought after coaches in America.

The Buckeyes' D is of concern in the game against PSU. PSU's O will want to move the ball, eat the clock, and score TDs. Unless they frack up, it looks like they'll do just that. I've seen just how potent the Buckeyes' offense can be, but can they outscore PSU with less time in which to get it done?

The punishment from the NCAA is severe. What benefit is it to the victims to destroy an entire institution for the acts of some within the institution? What benefit to society? Revenge is not the same as Justice.

Well if you watch alot of college football you will know that Purdue even tho they have a losing defense has a pretty good defense, and Indiana's game this year have been nail-biters even tho they have lost.
But the Bucks defense is shakey at its best, but what you say lose a couple and watch the fans complain, the fans know the defense isn't very good this year but they are young,so there won't be know complaining because the Buck's fan's know that this is just a tune up year since they can't go to a bowl or championship game.
