08:32 AM ET 10.26 | In some corners, Charles Wang is being hailed as a hero. He is, in fact, likely the cheapest, most misguided owner this league has seen in some time. No other owner would refuse to furnish its general manager with an assistant GM, but Wang's Islanders leave Garth Snow to his own devices. The team has no president, a vital position in the hierarchy of all the other functional clubs. It has hired a succession of minor league head coaches to their first NHL job, mostly because they all work for cheaper than coaches with NHL experience. ... You wouldn't put your men's league team in their practice rink, a gulag that gives the team a bad name among NHL free agents. Right down to the press meal, this organization has a sour taste and a bad smell.
