10:34 PM ET 10.26 | When the latest news broke of former LSU Tigers defensive back and 2011 Heisman Trophy finalist Tyrann Mathieu being arrested on a simple marijuana possession charge, people began to wonder - how does this affect the Honey Badger's NFL Draft stock? Mathieu was one of college football's biggest stars coming in to the season but multiple failed drug tests led to his dismissal from the football program. What was Mathieu's next move? In hopes of improving his image and working his way back to the LSU football team, Mathieu re-enrolled in classes for the spring semester at the university and entered a drug rehabilitation program. By all accounts, Mathieu was dedicated to returning to the team and was heart-broken that he was given the boot. He has no one to blame to himself and the arrest just goes to show that Mathieu has a major problem. Continuing down this path could be devastating to his life so thinking about football during this time doesn't seem right, but it's what we are here to do. Where does Mathieu go from here?

ANOTHER wasted talent. Sad commentary on what seems to be more important for many of these players these days.

Just an absolute moron. He couldn't stay away from weed for a few years? Good lord, dude. You have your whole life to be a pothead. You have a tiny little window of time to be drafted into the NFL.

Smoking pot, in and of itself, isn't a problem. Being MONUMENTALLY STUPID is.

Ricky Williams approves of comments 1,2, and 3 here. I wish HB the best..hopefully he ends up walking on for the Steelers.

Never mind his NFL future, what about his life's future?
This is a bad turn in a young man's life. It appears that even John Lucas can't turn him around.
He's following his father's example; sad story.

Good point!!! The article said "How does arrest affect his NFL future"? Mathieu was projected as a 1st round draft pick, that would have given him a huge bonus!!! Mathieu has to ask himself, did he screw that up and lose quite a bit of money?????

We all say these things, but really, all through time the main course in college is to drink, party, get high, and se..x, all else was way down the chart, we have just got past it and see that it gets you nowhere and they do not, life cycle.

SF, I agree!!!! Mathieu has a big problem and the most important thing now, is to help the kid!!! If there is a future in football later on, then good, but right now this kid needs help, big time!!!!

LOL, I don't think most of us on FN are picking on Mathieu, at least I'm not!!! I'm more concerned about his well being!!! I have been threw some of the thing that he has been threw, but I didn't or will lose all the money that this will.

It seems that this young man prefers to hang with the wrong crowd. Stay away from so called friends going the wrong direction and the battles half won.

If he's even picked up by a team, it would be as an undrafted free agent. Any team willing to take a chance on him would want to spend as little as possible. The kid will have zero leverage if he wants to play.

Apparently he can't even be trusted to do that.

Good comment and it is a shame as Tyrann has so much talent as a football player.

"Mathieu was one of college football's biggest stars coming in to the season"is it "in to" the season or "into" the season.

Not an authority for sure but I think into works better. Dang that makes me wonder about out of now; outof simply doesn't look right. Forget anything I've said; obviously I don't know anything.

im not picking on him im just saying that if he were smart and give it just one more year it would not affect him near as much as it is going to now, i mean just look at it how much this will this affect his pocket book now then if he already had his contract???
