Suter: Owners trying to go back on their word

08:35 AM ET 10.27 | In July, Minnesota Wild owner Craig Leipold spent $196 million to lure free agents Ryan Suter and Zach Parise to Minnesota with matching 13-year, $98 million contracts. Both players have yet to play a game for the Wild with the NHL's lockout surging into the final days of October. And on the day the league wiped out the remainder of the games in November, Suter is now wondering if those huge contracts were negotiated in good faith. "From what's going on right now? Yes. Definitely," Suter told ESPN The Magazine. "I haven't done any interviews. I haven't said anything, but yeah, it's disappointing that the owners, they sign all these guys and some guys were signed within the last week before the CBA was up. Now, they're trying to go back on their word. It's frustrating, disappointing. It doesn't seem like that's the way you operate a relationship or business."

You just gotta love these guys...imagine an employee coming to his boss...
Gee boss, you have made me wealthier beyond my dreams, but I want more of the Company profits and I don't want you to tell me for how long...

The amount of money aside... the real issue is the owners gave out inflated contracts probly assuming that they would never pay the entire amount... its insulting to us more humbly waged people to hear millionaires complain but when you negotiate a contract and the other party renegs on the deal it tick everyone off regardless of how much the contact is worth...

Owners said they'd make whole on all contracts signed didn't they? So how is that going back on their words? Just wondering?

if I'm not mistaken, weren't him and Zach given about 10 Mil upfront as a guarantee even if (when) the lockout starts?

so...a $10M signing bonus before you've even played a single game for your new team is not enough good faith? Please. I'm so over all of these millionaires bickering about money while regular working people are getting put out of work.

It's amazing that owners sign people to outlandish contacts, then a week later plead poverty.
