Chicago Cubs could go after Josh Johnson

01:14 PM ET 10.27 | Both Cubs' President Theo Epstein and general manager Jed Hoyer have indicated that the Cubs will look to add two to three starting pitchers this winter. Until this point, the focus as been on the free agent market for starting pitchers. The Marlins have made it known that Josh Johnson could be available in a trade. The Cubs may have some pieces that will work for Miami.

Johnson is a great pitcher in those one or two starts a season when he isn't hurt.

It is sounding like the Cubs will be the star attraction at this years Winter Meetings.

Johnson might be worth it to a team that has a deep staff and so could survive his absence for a while. That doesn't sound much like the Cubs to me, but maybe they can eat some of Soriano's salary and send him to Miami, get Johnson in change, that might work for them.
