Jerry Jones: I can take more risks as Cowboys GM and owner

08:50 AM ET 10.28 | One of the reasons Jerry Jones has job security as the Cowboys general manager is that he believes he is free to take risks, also being the owner. "That is one of the luxuries of my position as owner as well as the ultimate decision maker, general manager and president -- I can do that and take the losses and come back for more," he said this week at Valley Ranch, talking about his management style. "I have won with that style," he said. "We are not managing a widow-woman's retirement account here. In other words, to compete, I think we need to be aggressive. You play the game, you manage the game that way. You take some risks. When they don't pay off, they look bad. That has happened."

Sure. The only ones who pay are the Cowboys fans.

But Jerry, you kinda suck at it!

I can do that and take the losses and come back for more

How about you take some wins, then take the credit

What a maroon.

Then if you take risks, and gamble, then I think that Terrell Owens would be a sure pay off. From a fan to a owner, take the chance with him, and give us that superbowl run as well as the excitement. c-rock

I like how you took the time to sign that comment. Otherwise I'd have no idea who posted it.

The only really good thing in all these years was the Hershal Walker trade. It set Jimmy Johnson up with half a football team the rest of the league didn't have, and Jimmy made good use of them. Since then he has just been mediocre, as the record will reflect. Question is was it brilliance on Jerry's behalf or just plain stupidity on the Vikings staff. Or did Jerry have some serious dirt on someone.

Being the ultimate decision-maker is not a good thing if you are also the ultimate egotist.

October 28, 2012  09:47 AM ET

And the rest of the NFC East rejoices...

October 28, 2012  09:47 AM ET

Now if I had anything to say about this, I would invest in about million dollars for the remainder of this year and pick up Terrell Owens, Johnson Burress at 2 million each, and I'm sure we would have a good chance at the supperbowl, now thats a good risk. c-rock.

Jerry is right! It's his team, his money, and he can do as he pleases. The shame is; he just doesn't do it very well consistently....

My dog has a good chance at her supperbowl everyday and I don't spend nearly that much.

October 28, 2012  09:52 AM ET

And how's that working out for you Jer?

October 28, 2012  09:53 AM ET

Your doing a Great Job at taking risks, your currently failing as a GM, but I have to bow down to your 3 Super Bowl Victories!!!

You must be a Redskin or a Gaint. Don't try to understand things it seem that it's not one of your strong points, c-rock.
