10:34 AM ET 10.28 | Alex Anthopoulos isn't about to get in a war of words with John Farrell but he isn't happy with what Farrell attributed to him at the Red Sox manager's opening press conference. Farrell said that Anthopoulos was understanding of his move out of Toronto and Anthopoulos said he felt the same way had a similar job with his hometown Montreal Expos been available. Anthopoulos insists he said nothing of the kind. According to the Jays general manager, he just wanted to end the conversation with Farrell, was disgusted by his lack of loyalty, and made an analogy about running the Baltimore Orioles and wanting to run the Blue Jays.

Why would anyone expect loyalty from a manager? The team would cut him loose in a heartbeat if he isn't winning.

This whining from the Blue Jays' managment is silly.
Keep it to yourself, or in direct communications. Why play it out in the media?
Farrell left a team where he wasn't all that valued, for a team who wanted him, a lot.
As Willie, above, says, the Jays would have cut Farrell loose at any time without any talk of "loyalty".

The question here is, did the days wanted to keep Farrell in Toronto as their manager? Or they didn't care at all/?

Now we have to wait and see if Farrell would function properly in Boston as the red Sox new manager, can he handle the pression in boston?

Yes; baseball is like any other business; the loyalty is to making money, and not much else. The players sometimes have some delusions about loyalty to the team or city, but management knows better, and even the players are starting to catch on.

Last year, you asked for Buchholz. This year you settled for Aviles. Next year, you wouldn't have renewed his contract.

Really. Good question. But now we are stuck him until 2016.

The Jay's could have made him stay if that was their desire. The best way out of this is to enforce the contracts. If you sign for 3 years then he can't leave and you can't fire him.

If Farrell fails to win a championship in Boston, those 3 years contract would likely be ignored and good bye Farrell :-) :-)

wiseup:toronto complained about Farrell being disloyal:wiseup this is a business, the same thing you would tell a player you are sending back to triple A or being traded or DFA. Get over it and hire a new manager.

Well the Red Sox could totally suck next year and they might hire someone else.
